As he tells it, his decision to pursue a career in real estate came about after having spent more than a decade in the restaurant industry:

“I owned a restaurant for eleven years. I sold it because my kids were young and I was missing out, I was never home. With extra time on my hands and money in my pocket I went off to work in construction and remodeling. After some time, I ended up buying a couple of properties to fix up and flip. We also bought a few properties, fixed them up, and decided to keep them as rentals. Eventually I got my real estate license thinking that I would have it for my own personal needs. I soon realized that I enjoyed real estate and that it was a lot easier on my body than carrying four by eight sheet rock up and down three flights of steps. So I transitioned from remodeling into real estate full-time. Real estate is very similar in that it is very customer service-oriented.”

Since 2005, he has worked with the full gamut of real estate properties. Though more than seventy-five percent of his business is residential, Steve also carries a deep knowledge and expertise on commercial properties, vacant land, and executive homes. As a Minnesota native, he provides his clientele with an unrivaled familiarity of St. Paul’s local neighborhoods and the surrounding area. As a leader in his industry, he keeps his finger on the pulse of the Twin Cities’ real estate market.

Beyond working in real estate, Steve Casalenda is actively involved in a variety of charities and nonprofits throughout his community. Today, he serves as a Treasurer for a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called Vulcan Community Charities, which since its inception more than five years ago, has sought to provide grants and scholarship funds for major universities, schools, and fire departments throughout the Greater St. Paul area. Steve has also served on the board of the National Ataxia Foundation and remaining active with other local and national charities.

Looking toward the future, he shares some big plans for the road ahead. He recently brought on another agent who is in the Results Support Services (RSS) program with RE/MAX Results. With the exception of signing a contract, this program allows the agent to do everything a licensed agent can do. With business booming, Steve plans to impart others with the knowledge and deep sense of integrity that continues to make him successful.
